A Tasmanian Elopement At Thalia Haven

Thalia Haven was on my bucket list of places to shoot a wedding at. I had seen an elopement there and thought it would be amazing to document a wedding and a few weeks later the next thing I knew I was there. All thanks to Gabbie from Event Avenue who is a local wedding planner.

This location did not disappoint. Ocean views, beautiful house, pockets of light and a perfect intimate elopement.

Neville did all the wedding planning, (with the help of Gabbie) This does not happen very often where the groom does all the work. When I was talking to Lisa she was pretty happy with Neville’s hard work and loved her special day.

The moment I stepped into Kristy’s cabin at Tamar Valley Resort Grindelwald, there was a sense of calm. I love when there aren’t too many people at the bride and grooms while they’re getting ready. I feel like the bride is often less stressed.

Andrew is such a gentleman and had so many cute things to say about Kristy. These two were meant to be.

They got married in the cutest little chapel at Tamar Valley Resort Grindelwald.

Thank you Kristy and Andrew for having me, it was a beautiful day.

Ive gotten to know Asher and her family over the past few years as our two oldest boys are besties at school. So naturally we’ve formed a friendship.

Ive heard little snippets of wedding talk from her over the years and was excited for her when she announced they had planned a wedding date and would like me to document their special day. It’s always an honour to be asked to document someones wedding and I appreciate it so much.

When we went to check out the venue of the ceremony a few weeks before as I had not been there before, I got so excited. It has the cutest little chapel set in the most beautiful gardens at Lalla Flower Farm.  A week before the wedding Asher sent me a link to a post that one of the rhododendron bushes had bloomed just in time for the wedding. Oh man it was stunning. Everything about the place was a photographers dream location.

The day started out a little wet, but this did not put a damper on things, we were prepared if it continued to rain and we all know its good luck if it rains on your wedding day. But it cleared up just in time and the rest of the day was beautiful.

I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures as much I have.

Resident photographer at Scotch Oakburn College | Launceston Photographer

Since I’ve decided to come out of hiding again, I figured I should share some of the things I’ve been working on. This one has been a pretty major addition to my business, last term I started to work at Scotch Oakburn College as their resident photographer. What a cool gig this is.

Every time I get called out on a job, I’m amazed at the cool stuff these kids get to do. Scotch Oakburn has been voted in the top 40 of most innovative schools around Australia and I can see why. One minute I’m out on a boat heading up the river documenting rowing, then the next day I’m driving to Fingal to visit their off site campus. They have an amazing outdoor education program.

I wanted to share some of the images I took of this cool job I got to do documenting 10 Scotch Oakburn students who are members of the Fingal Fire Brigade. You can find the article in their community magazine Focus. Such a wonderful example of student’s helping out the community by participate in extensive training with the Tasmania Fire Service.
