Why I Still Love Photographing Weddings After 150 Celebrations | Tasmanian Wedding Photographer

When I photographed my very first wedding back in 2013, I never imagined that one day I'd have the privilege of documenting more than 150 weddings across Tasmania.

Each wedding has been completely different. Different couples, different venues, different weather (because this is Tasmania after all!), different stories. Yet every single one has reminded me why I fell in love with wedding photography in the first place.

It's never been about creating perfect photos.

It's about capturing the moments that matter.

The way your partner looks at you as you walk down the aisle. The tears your parents try to hide. Your grandparents holding hands during the ceremony. The hugs that last a little longer than expected. Your friends laughing until they cry during the speeches.

Those are the moments that become priceless with time.

Every Wedding Has Taught Me Something

After photographing more than 150 weddings, I've learnt that no two days ever unfold exactly the same way.

I've photographed weddings in bright sunshine, pouring rain, and everything in between. I've worked at many of Tasmania's most beautiful venues, and I've learnt that the best photographs rarely happen because everything goes perfectly.

They happen because people are present.

Some of my favourite images have come from unexpected moments—a sudden burst of laughter, a windy afternoon that created movement in a dress, or a quiet moment when a couple simply forgot I was there.

My Approach Has Never Really Changed

Over the years, cameras have changed, editing styles have evolved, and wedding trends have come and gone.

But the way I photograph weddings has stayed remarkably similar.

I want you to enjoy your wedding.

I don't want you spending hours posing or feeling like your day revolves around the camera. I'll gently guide you when you need it, but for most of the day, I'm quietly observing and documenting everything as it naturally unfolds.

The best photographs happen when you're simply being yourselves.

Tasmania Will Always Feel Like Home

I'm incredibly lucky to call Tasmania home.

I've photographed weddings in vineyards, on beaches, in gardens, historic estates, and surrounded by our incredible landscapes. One of the things I love most is returning to venues throughout the state and seeing them through the seasons. Even after visiting the same venue many times, every wedding feels completely unique because every couple brings their own story.

There's something special about photographing weddings here. Tasmania has a relaxed pace, beautiful scenery, and couples who truly value spending time with the people they love.

Why I Still Love It

People sometimes ask if photographing weddings ever gets repetitive after so many years.

The answer is simple.

Not even a little.

I still get excited driving to every wedding. I still feel incredibly honoured that couples trust me with one of the most important days of their lives. I still smile while editing galleries because I know those photographs will become part of a family's history.

Long after the flowers have faded and the cake has been eaten, your photographs remain.

Knowing that never gets old.
